Greetings Yagya Friends,

Shivaratri is my favorite time of year because we have our biggest, most comprehensive series of yagyas and this year is no exception!  Twelve days in Kanchipuram and two great days in Varanasi, traditionally Shiva's city and the very best place to have Shivaratri Yagyas.

The series begins with a full day of Ganesha Yagyas on Feb 19th that features the offering of 1008 sweet modaka (Ganesha's favorite food) by 11 priests.  The next day we begin the 11 day Maha Rudra Yagya in Kanchipuram.

The Maha Rudra Yagya continues every day with 11 repetitions of Rudra Abishekam by 11 priests, concluding on

The day after Shivaratri our pundits perform a beautiful and soothing Ganga Yagya on the banks of the Ganges in Varanasi, northern India.  This yagya brings such a wonderful cooling peacefulness.

In Kanchipuram, the Maha Rudra Yagya continues every day with 11 repetitions of Rudra Abishekam by 11 priests, concluding on Monday, February 22nd. Eleven priests performing Rudra Abishekam eleven times a day for eleven days....it's a powerful and profound experience.

We all hope you will take advantage of this wonderful event and participate either in the
complete series ($47), or the 24 hours of Shivaratri ($27).

On Shivaratri the day begins with Rudra Abishekam followed by a traditional havan (fire yagya) with 108 different ingredients offered into the yagya fire.  That evening simultaneous Abishekam yagyas are performed at a special countryside temple near Kanchipuram and in the countryside yagya shala on the banks of the Ganga River near Varanasi in northern India.

  2. For the development of wisdom and clear thinking - Saraswati Yagya
  3. For the protection of the family especially children - Narasimha Yagya
  4. For your children's education - Hayagriva Yagya (a form of Vishnu dedicated to education)
  5. For enlightenment and deep silence - Meda Dakshinamurti Yagya, a form of Shiva who teaches without speaking.

Greetings Yagya Friends,

Our March yagyas suppported the development and preservation of family harmony and our April yagyas build on this theme.  We have a 10 yagya series focused on Hanuman, whose birthday is on the Full Moon, April 18th.

The mantras used in this yagya enliven the qualities associated with Hanuman; strength of character, support of dharma (natural law), radiant health, devotion, and contentment.  Hanuman is simply the ultimate combination of goodness and power and those are the qualities these yagyas develop.

Hanuaman yagyas are particularly good for softening and balancing the influence of Rahu and Saturn, and for strengthening the planet Jupiter. This is particularly timely because in May Jupiter is changing signs as are Rahu and Ketu.  Saturn resumes direct motion in June. According to the vedic tradition, the best time to influence the planets is before they change signs, so this is the perfect month to invoke the strength and grace of Hanuman!

For more details and to sign up for the Hanuman Yagyas, please click here

On the signup page you will also find a series of podcasts with stories about Hanuman, a downloadable MP3 with the 108 names/mantras for Hanuman, and an MP3 of the Anjaneya (Hanuman) stotra.

Rahu/Ketu

Greetings Yagya Friends,

May is going to be a busy month, and it starts soon!

Rahu/Ketu and Jupiter are changing signs next week making this is the very best time to perform the planetary yagyas that will balance and intensify the good qualities of these planets.

We've divided the month into two parts so that you can participate in as much of the program as you'd like.  The first part is focused on the planets and the special day called Akshaya Trittiya (Thurs, May 5th thru Mon, May 9th).  The second series is focused on Lakshmi and Kubera, for wealth and abundance (Thurs, May 19th thru Tues, May 23rd).

You can participate in the entire monthly program or any part of it by clicking here.

 akshaya trittiya

Akshaya Tritiya is known as "The Day of Lasting Achievements" because on this day both the Sun and Moon are exalted and thus at their strongest. This is when the vedic rishis performed the very first yagya. The day is called 'Akshaya' because the word means 'undecaying' or 'everlasting' and any yagyas performed on this day have a special lasting power.

This yagya is automatically included if you are participating in the full May series, but you can also participate in this event individually, just click here to sign up.

Lakshmi May 2011

Lakshmi is the source of all abundance in both material and spiritual forms. Kubera is that aspect of abundance that can be expressed simply as "cash".  So we perform these five days of yagyas to attract both the wholesome abundance of Lakshmi, and also the more worldly abundance provided by Kubera.  Each morning our priests will perform a complete Lakshmi/Kubera Yagya and each evening they will visit a Lakshmi temple for pujas.  It is a nice way to begin the spring season.

This yagya is automatically included if you are participating in the full May series, but you can also participate in this event individually, just click here to sign up.
